Floor Sanding Services
Wood Floor Sanding
Before floor sanding can commence we need to make sure there are no nails or staples above the surface of the wood so we go around the floors knocking down all nails, removing staples, checking/securing any loose boards etc.
Dependent on the condition of the floor we start with a course abrasive, normally this would be a 40g but occasionally old wood floors can be badly stained, discoloured or covered in paint, in cases like this we would start with a 24g.
The above process cleans the wood of most dirt and paint but will leave it with a very course finish. To make the wood floor totally clean, smooth and scratch free we now work our way through the finer grades of abrasives finishing with a very fine 120g.
The final finish of Sanded Wood Floors heavily rely on the floor sanding process being done properly, its too late to fix sanding problems when the finish is applied, well, not too late, but the floor sanding will need to be done again once the finish has fully cured. Scratches, grooves and chatter marks really shine through once the finish is applied.
